In 2001 Keith earned the Academy of Country Music award for Album of the Year as well as Top Male Vocalist. In 1999 Keith moved to Dreamworks Records and after a small obstacle, he released “How Do You Like Me Now” which reached platinum and had a series of singles. Then in 1994 Keith was moved to Polydor Records where he released “Boomtown,” which also reached certified platinum. The single was the perfect lead off for his self-titled album, which produced three more Top 5 singles, and successful tours with Shania Twain and John Brannen. In the early 1990s, Keith was signed to Mercury Records and his debut single, “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” went to Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1993. The band played local bars, but Keith’s full time job was working the oil fields, at least until the decline of the oil fields in 1982, forcing Keith into unemployment, which gave him the opportunity to concentrate more on music. At the age of 20, he formed a band called Easy Money Band with his friends Scott Webb, Keith Cory, David Vowell, and Danny Smith. Born on 8 July, 1961 Keith became interested in music during the summers he spent with his grandparents.
